Grinding for one Chirality

Recently a grinding method was identified as a new separation principle with high potential for the pharmaceutical industry. For a conglomerate system, the grinding method can result in a 100% chirally pure crystalline product. This grinding method takes place in a conglomerate supsension in combination with a racemization reaction. The grinding method can only be applied in the 10% of the cases that form a conglomerate system rather than a racemic compound, The reason why this process works is still under debate in cientific literature. We will investigate which parameters (suspension density, grinding intensity, speek of the racemization reaction, crstalline form) are industrially relevant for control and optimization of this new process.
