ŽARKO OLUJIĆ is since 2006 independent scientific consultant and part-time associate professor at the Process & Energy Laboratory of the Delft University of Technology. He has over 40 years of academic research and teaching experience in former Yugoslavia, Germany and the Netherlands. Since joining TU Delft in 1987 he has been continuously involved with teaching concerning various aspects of separation technology onshore and offshore as well as with process design, research and development assignments from industry. His name is a synonym for large scale experimentation particularly that in support of development and performance modeling of structured packings and packed column internals. His post-retirement research interest is oriented towards maximizing the energy efficiency of distillation, with particular emphasis on internal heat integration and expanding the application window of dividing wall columns. The author of over 100 publications and patents, he joined AIChE in 1982 and has been honored by the Separations Division in 2006 for his outstanding contributions to the development of separations technology. Since 2010 he is a Fellow of AIChEŽarko received his BSc (DiplIng.) in petroleum technology (1969), MSc in chemical engineering (1975), and DSc in process engineering (1976) from the University of Zagreb, Croatia.

Presently he is a member of International Advisory Board of Chemical & Biochemical Engineering Quarterly and the Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering. He is a co-editor of an Elsevier three volumes book in making on Distillation.
