Jamming of Soft Spheres

Soft sphere packing is a model used for materials (foams, emulsions, colloidal suspensions) which can exhibit a fluid like or solid like behaviour depending on the circumstances. This phase transition takes place when the system jams into rigid and can be characterized by a non zero shear modulus.

Computer simulations are used to establish the behaviour of physical parameters of soft sphere packings close to the (un)jamming point.
