Direct conversion of carbon dioxide and hydrogen to fuels

There be a source of pure CO2, there be electricity for electrolysis.

Methane or methanol or formic acid and the like can be produced at an electrocatalytically active electrode.

Goal: make a chemical of your choice in aqueous solution, after thorough literature screening, measure the composition of product mixture and optimize towards one majority species. The project clearly consists of a theoretical, literature screening part,  building a set-up with appropriate analysis options, and a first optimization step viz. influence of temperature (partial) pressure, flow, stirring, diffuser etc.. Quantitative results are sought for.
