Electro-reduction of CO2 in non-aqueous solvents for energy storage application

We propose the preparation and screening of home made non-protic solvents for CO2 capture, based on several new reports on the subject to be found in the scientific literature. The solvent will be further used for the CO2 electro-reduction. The formation of products will be monitored using a couple of advanced spectroscopic techniques (FTIR, Raman).

The focus of the project poses an important contribution in the remediation of the increasing amounts of atmospheric carbon dioxide towards sustainable energy conversion.
