Continuous membrane-assisted airlift crystallizer

Crystallization is one of the oldest separation processes for the purification of compounds in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. By means of an airlift crystallizer, we aim to enhance the product quality as compared to conventional stirred crystallizers. This is achieved by the suppression of secondary nucleation. Membranes help in efficient solvent removal and thus create the driving force for crystallization which is supersaturation.  This project will focus on the integration of the airlift crystallizer as well as the membrane unit to check the feasibility of the crystallisation process for manufacture of pharmaceutical compounds.
